Pg 152 Cady Saga Shows in Cincinnati District- Vol 1 Dearborn Co. Ind owned SE 1/4 S 8 on 6.17.1818. She was married to John Bennett and her brother, Jared, stood for her at the ceremony. She out lived John Bennett 45 years but no record of remarriage or more children.She received a pension from Monogalia Co W.Va. and John must have been a veteran 0f the War of 1812. JOHN BENNET DIED IN DEARBORN CO, INDIANA IN1833. Catherine is buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Jewell Co., Kansas.? She had moved there in 1873 while living with her daughter and son-in-law Hannah and Elwood Modlin. She never had remarried after the death of her husband and had lived with Hannah and Elwood Modlin. She died in1878. I could find no stone but a lot of Modlin stones who were her descendents. Be it remembered that a term of the probate court of the County of Henry and the State of Indiana was begun and held at the courthouse in the Town of ????? on Monday, the eighth day of February AD 1836, Before the Honorable ????? probate judge of said court present Moses Robertson Elgin ????? and Eli Murphy and court was found in due form of law.Ordered by the Court that all bonds of Executors and Administrators taken by Clerk. Ordered by the Court that Catharine be appointed Guardian of the infant and minor heirs of John H. Bennett late of said County deseased and thereupon the said Guardian filed bond ???? to the acceptance of the Court.

Henry Co Court of Feb 11, 1846 there was made a statement of the estate of John H. Bennett in which Catharine Bennett refused any claim of the estate but it should be divided six ways equally.between William, Seth, Joseph, Casper,Elizabeth Bennett and Louisa Modlin
( daughter of Jane Bennett who had since died )

In my Bennett files I have a request by her to get a war widow’s pension
Proof that she was a veteran’s widow.Service Pension of War of 1812 widow certificate, application by Elwood Modlin for 259.80 dollars for caring for Catharine Bennett during her life after having a stroke. This was about 10 weeks and included 6.80 for lumber for coffin, acessories and burial clothes.
