Letter from her granddaughter, Ruth Hoover, says that she was born 6 Oct, 1812 and died in 1849 She was about 36 when she died. Wharton Rector Barton then married her first cousin who was a widow of a Mr. Lockridge. Their mothers were sisters and their maiden name was Gillespie. Jane died of complications of the birth of Kimberly Lewis Barton in 1848 in her 37 th year. He died in two years.. She is buried a few miles north of Linneus, Mo. in the abanded Brown Shirley and Tom Cady found her broken stone in 2001. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs C. T. In Oct 1998, Shirley and I finally found where Jane as buried. It was in the Brown cemetery which has long since been deserted and terribly neglected. the last burial was in 1900 and most were in the mid 1800 s. The brush, thorns and burrs was so thick that the owner of the farm got lost trying to get to the hilltop cemetery as our guide. The cemetery was a tangle of vines, thorns and trees. It was so thick that you could only stumble upon a few down, broken and half buried stones at a time. We may have found the stone but the inscription was faint. Shirley and I returned to the Brown Cemetery in Sept. 2001 and while checking around Shirley felt a stone under the ground with her shovel and uncovered the broken stone of Jane A. Barton, wife of Whorton R. Barton, Died Nov 27, 1849 aged 37 yr 1 Mo and 21 days
