Misc. Notes
Newspaper say that he was buried in Walworth,Wisc. but he was buried in Columbus,Ohio. The dates on burial one year after death is correct.Interred in Space 2 Lot 124 Block C section 3. Eastland Burial Park, Columbus, Ohio. He was a rural mail carrier when in Walworth. He only had one hand. The story was that he accidentally shot it off while crawling under a fence but one of his granddaughters, Betty Coon, says that he was drunk and had it injured in a buggy accident?? _________________________________________________________ His body was held at the mortuary for over a year before burial at Columbus, Ohio. I imagine that they were planning on taking the body back to Walworth, Wisconcin but it never materialized. He died 27 April, 1933 at age 75 and was buried 31 May, 1934. The truth is probably that Elizabeth Coon Gustin, his daughter, wanted Shirley Jay Coon to come to the funeral. The same happened when his wife died. ----------------------------------------------------------------- When daughter, Elizabeth, was born he was listed as a painter. ----------------------------------------------------------------- OBITUARY- WILLIAM C. To find the Coons graves in the Eastland memorial Park go to the whte house at back of cemetery where there is a locked office. Facing the building go right on th road a couple of hundred feet on the road to a conspicuous marker by the road wth the name BUTTS on it. Look in several rows to a huge dead tree tree and back four rows by large markers marked YANTZ and MITCHEL. The Coon marker is a flat, ground level flat stone.
