She was married to Claudius Cossus Jones in Detroit. Michigan, by Rev. George Duffield pastor of 1 st. Pres. Church. Witnesses by William or Henry Langley and Flavel Abbot witnesses. ----------------------------------------------------------------- We visited the grave in the summer of 1996. We had looked previously and could find no records. George Harness, the cemetery caretaker, was very cooperative and even had us out to his home for records.We varified the location of the graves of Mary Ann, Lois and C.C. Jones. There were no stones but we noticed a bit of white stone sticking through the sod. The cemetery caretaker said that it was not a cemetery marker so he got a shovel and dug out a beautiful, well preserved stone that had been on her grave. If it had been exposed all these years it would have been hard to read. She has been dead 115 years and the inscription,the cross and crown looked new although the stone had fallen and was badly broken. Probably at some time the cemetery had been in neglect and the approximately 20 x 36 inch stone had fallen and the buried about 3 inches under the sod except for a corner of the base. I used a screw drive and hammer to probe at the graves of C.C. and Lois Jones, their daughter, but found no stones. Her granddaughter, Elizabeth Coon Gustin, said that Mary Ann Langley was born on the high seas ??? ----------------------------------------------------------------- OBITUARY - " Died at her residence in the town of Walworth, Wis., Mary A, wife of C.C.Jones and daughter of Henry Langley of Detroit, Mich. on the evening of March 1 st A.D. 1881. her age was about 52 years and three months. She leaves a husband and six children, besides a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Family lore says that she was born on the high seas . If she was born on Dec. 1830, she would have been in the U.S. Her family arrived in the U.S. earlier that year.
