Oral family history indicates that Ruth Lewis was a descendant of Francis Lewis (1713-1802) A signer of the Declaration of Indendence from New York.

Materials found by Kay Lemon Hiner and she just copied “ essence of the document states that the total of the sale was $1,029.00. Some buyers include Seth Bennett, Melvin Bennett and Joe Lewis. Large items were1 bay mare $70; Dk bays $100 & $80.50; colt $22: Cow and calf $71; 6 hogs $78; sow and pigs $12.50; & 16.50; 2 fat hogs $40: 10 sheep &20.50 & $15 & $13,50; 20 sheep 421; red cow $55; Heifer $61.”

Cemetery records say that she was aged 62 years 3 mo. and 24 days old when she died. Census records for 1850 lists her as 33 and 1860 as 43 would put her age at 52 at date of death
