Landed in Nova Scotia and married about six years later to John Cummings who had come from Ireland at the age of 14.. The had seven daughters and one son.. The husband died at the age of 36 from pheumonia and left a wife with 8 children. Rosa was born in Albany, New York and then the family moved to Ohio where John died. Mary sold the farm and moved with friends to Madison Wisconsin. Zalmon Storrs met Rose Cummings, One of Mary Cummings daughters, and married her in Madison, Wisconsin .On the honeymoon, they went by train to St. Louis and then up the Missouri by boat to Bellevue, Nebraska and settled there in 1857 before the town was formed.
