From HISTORY OF NEW MILFORD CENTENIAL COMMITTEE` 1959 - In 1803 Cyrenius Storrs arrived and settled at what was to be known a few years hence as the Great Bend and Cochecton Turnpike. ANOTHER NOTE -Prominent among the settlers of 1803-04 was Cyrenius Storrs who located on the main road southeast of Capt. Leach. Mr Storrs took up a piece of heavily timbered land on the flat just west of the present day Baptist church which years afterwards made a very desirable farm. He died in 1855. His son, Oregin. is still living on Mott hill, a short distance to the westward of the spot where his father settled.
