Jacob purchased a large tract of land and the buildings north of what is nor Peach Street in Revere, from the heirs of Jonathan Tuttle. He assumed the payment of certain legacies to the Tuttle heirs which involved long and trying difficulties. He erected a house and bard which cost about 300 lbs.

Jacob was elected constable, an office which called for clerical and exacting labors. He was a cordwainer ( a worker in leather ) as his uncle Jacob Chamberlain of Roxbury had been. he died in the midst of his busy life leaving cares and duties to his capable wife, the care of the Tuttle legacies and the adjustment of his accounts as Constable and Tax Collector. He is buried by the side of his father, John. He left an estate of 1,202 lbs.

His widow Abihail removed with her children to Hopkinton where she lived the rest of her life., Her death, recorded at Hopkinton says “ Mrs Chamberlain, Oldest person in town, died April 1793 aged aaaaabove 95 years.
