She was 23 when she married Benaiah and already had a son. He was 1 year and 3 months old at the time and the son was called Bill Hutch and Benaiah adopted him. His name was Willim Lawrence Hutchinson. Bill had a boy William Lawrence Hutchinson 1840-1920. He married Margaret Isabella Moore 1848 1886. They has five children Gussie Amanda 1878 - 1949, Arnold, Sarah 1885, Nealy, Lottie and Thad. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Amanda Evans was born in Alabama in 1800/01. orin Tennessee in 1816/17 Nothing of her life prior to 1842 is known by author. She was married in Montgomery Co. Texas, on April 9, 1842 to Benaiah Jones 111. At this time she had a son, William Lawrence Hutchinson who was one year and four months old at the time Benaiah married her he had 1,830 acres in Montgomery Co. and 1,280 Acres in Johnson. Texas. Benaiah Jones adopted Bill Hutchinson and raised him as his son with his five children by Amanda. Amanda besides her son Bill and five of her children by Benaiah Jones also was host to at least seven of Benaiah's children from the north and was hostess to travellers passing by. The Jones family were considered well off. Benaiah Jones sensing that a war was coming sent all of his sons back North except Croesus who remained and died in the south as a pardner to his father. ( this is not true because 3 of his sons died in Texas )
Exact circumstances of his death is not known but it was thought that he was involved in the murder of a neighbor, Mr. Anderson, in a dispute over cattle. The widows remained friends as the incident was between the men and the women were not involved. Amanda filed Benaiah's will 12 Sept. 1861 and the estate was valued at $ 14,307 on Nov. 23 Nov, 1861 Amanda died shortly thereafter and probably was buried in Jones Cemetery on their property. -----------------------------------------------------------------
