Day Cemetery - inaccessably location on the back-wash of the Ohio River in a swampy wooded ground north of highland Park, Green Twp. About 1/4 mile west of US 52. Mr Elliott Stapleton of Sciotoville said there were 90 or more graves there before the 1937 flood. He called it the CIVIL CEMETERY because of the many Civil War veterans buried there.

When Willis Day died in 1825 Widow Barton ( Elizabeth Barton) his mother-in-law was a creditor and received severaylparts.

From Charles P. Chandler - Often heard was Elizabeth Louis Barton tell of working the fields during her husband’s long absence during the Revolutionary War. She was a woman raised in afluence and well educated but the trying times came on and she tilled the soil and kept her family of 7 years of bloody strife. She died in 1842 in her 94 th year.
