from RESEARCH FILES OF EDWIN WITTER John MacCoone Jr. was granted 100 acres of land in Westerly in 1692 and 1709 and took the freeman oath there in 1723. He was a petid juryman in 1697 and a fence viewer in 1701. He had his animal earmark in 1698. In 1702 he was granted 100 acres of land and in 1702 helped run the town line. He married a lady named Anne and had 8 children among them Daniel born in 1698. John Jr. died about 1733 at the age of 67 ----------------------------------------------------------------- from Wightman Him and his wife deeded most of their land to their oldest two sons in 1724. HIS WILL WAS PROVED 15 DEC. 1732 John willed to his wife a third of movables and a third profit of the farm where I dwell, also a featherbed, two cows, a mare ten sheep and the best room in the house, all for life, while widow and provisions in the house.To eldest son, John, two year old beast and 10 acres of land. He bought 100 acre grants of land from Robert Burdick on March 28, 1692 and March 28, April 7 1709. The Assembly of the Colony of Rhode Island confirmed him as a freeman as John Mackoun.
