Hiram Winters joined the Mormon Church in N.Y. in June 1833 and with the Burdick family went to Kirtland and helped build the temple, then to western Missouri and then back to Nauvoo, Ill. Then he went with the family to Salt Lake City, losing his wife at, what is now,Scottsbluff, Nebr. of cholera.
