Died at age 70 by Angina Pectoralis, no complications, 11 day illness.Undertaker Wengles and Son, Physician John W. Norris of Glassgow, religion Methodist Episcopal Church So. Church organized at Glasgow Mo. Dec 28, 1844. Members of the board of trustees of the church were K.L.Barton, Mrs Eliz, Barton, Elias R. Barton, Mrs Wm. Barton, Benjamin and James Lewis.
Notes- From the above it seems that the Bartons were leaders in the church. The church is a beautiful red brick building across the street from the public library. A sign shows the date of building and that the church was used by Union Soldiers as a living quarters during the Civil War.

Property was probably under wife’s name because he was an ardent Confederate supporter, did not sign a “ Union Loyalty Pledge” in this case his legal rights were not restored till 1875
