Holden, age 76, applied for a pension 5 March 1903, for service in the Indian Wars. He was a resident of Moscow, Latah Co., Idaho. He enlisted July 1, 1853 as a private, in Walker Tintec Indian War, was commanded by Capt. Israel Hoyt. Discharged in Nephi, Utah Oct 1853. At time of service, age 23, 5 ft 9 1/2 inches, blue eyes, dark complected, born Wainsborough, Wayne Co, Tenn. Since service, resided 23 years at Nephi, 10 years at Staley, Washington, 17 years at Moscow, Idaho......... Married 25 March 1849 25 March, Salt Lake City, Jane R. Gustin who is now living ( 1903 ). In an addendum to the first application, one dated 19 March 1903, is also the following,, Scars: 2 scars on calf of right leg made by bite of ///// also scar across right foot cut by severing or Partially, the toes. All made when a small boy. In several other articles of him in Nephi, he was known as an Indian interpreter.
