From the Dictionary of the Ancestral Heads of New England Families 1620-1700 Thomas, Son of Col. Thomas Stevens brother of Cyprian, freeman, born in London, England, in 1623 came to New England in 1660. Was a freeman in 1665. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From The Stevens Family by E.H. Stevens - He came to New England about 1660 0r 1661. He was with his brother, Cyprian and his sister Mary and Captain John Green. Thomas Stevens married Captain Green's sister soon after arriving in Charlestown. He was admitted to the town 16 Sept. 1661. He was called Mr. at title given to about 1/2 of one percent of the people indicating that he was a gentleman, usually a graduate of a university or a high church person. There is no record of his buying land . At an unknown date he married Mary Green and she gave birth 1 Ocr, 1662. Soon after he moved to Sudbury and was a ironmonger and bought a home and land. He was admitted a freeman in the colony 3 May, 1665 and he was given land to teach a free school. He was appointed to help promote a college in Cambridge. He sold his house and became a partner in a grist mill and saw mill which was in what was late called the town of Stow. He later sold his interest in the mill and farmed and was a town officer in Stow, signing documents and was a juror in 1664. He was called Gent. and Lieutenant. His will is listed in The Stevens Family pages V1-V11-V111. He and Mary Greene had 5 children all but the first born in Sudbury. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF MORLBOROUGH by Charles Hudson Thomas Stevens came to New England with Capt. Green about 1660 and took up his abode in Charlestown. He was an iron monger and a blacksmith and had a grant of land from Sudbury on condition that he should do their smith work for them. He afterwards moved from Sudbury to Stow, where he had a family of children and where he died. He was a selectman in Stow ----------------------------------------------------------------
