Stecens - John Greene was one of the most notes resident of Stow who was of great ability and in high favor with Oliver Cromwell, being a captain of the dock yard at Depford and clerk of the exchecker. Upon the death of Cromwell he came to Ne England , settled in Stow with his sister and her husband. His will dated 4 Sept 1688 and proved 21 Feb. 1688 Thomas Stevens was executor of his estate.
