Aunt Ruth was a true angel to our family. She was born on a poor homestead about 30 miles north of Limon, Colorado. Her mother died when she was very young and her father tried to take care of her. He farmed with horses pulling a little wagon behind the equipment pulling her till he remarried and had two boys by the second wife. She married my Uncle John and served as housekeeper for him, her four children, my grandfather and grandmother Stevens and uncle Storrs.They all lived in a 3 bedroom home and she nursed, cooked and kept house for all of them .She was so clean that she even ironed the sheets for the beds. In later life, after the Stevens were dead, Uncle Storrs was dead and the four children were grown, Aunt Ruth and John spent many weeks every winter with us in Gilbert. They were great company and she was a happy outgoing person. After Uncle John died, she got cancer and she came to us and Shirley nursed her until she was near death and went home to die at Ault, Colorado
