Misc. Notes
We tried to find the graves of Henry and Dora Cady in the back or older part of the cemetery at Almagordo, N.M. where a great niece, Myra Johnson, remembered the grave but we did not find it. His daughter , Fannie Churchhill, verified that this was where the graves were located and that the grave marker has both their names.Daughter, Fannie Churchill, said that Dora's ashes are on his grave and that Ada Cady, his mother, was buried beside him but that she had heard that Oliver Cady had her moved to his grave plot in the same cemetery. Henry first married her cousin Dora Calhoun and raised a family of four. He served 6 months in the infantry in the Spanish American War. ----------------------------------------------------------------- His daughter, Fannie Churchill, said that he was one that never did well financially and wondered all over the country with his family. She said that Henry and Dora first lived in Sullivan County, Mo. Later they moved to the Linn Creek, Mo. area and in 1907, emigrated to Lincoln Co. Colorado and took a homestead 30 miles north of Limon, Colo. All their stock and household goods were loaded on a box car and the trains, called emigrant trains, carried them West. Many also traveled as a family in one end of the car, machinery ect. in the middle and the live stock at the other end. She said that they built the barn first and lived in it till a sod house was built. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Davis said that Dora was a wonderful wife and never went anywhere as she had to stay home to care for the children and livestock. That he even delivered his own babies.
