Died in Independence, Iowa but her body was returned to Rochester, Wisc. and buried next to her husband and children in the family plot in the Rochester cemetery as to her wish.1860 census shows her living with her unmarried Son, Thomas, and daughter, Harriet C and her husband,David Roberts and their year old daughter in Independence, Iowa. Sources- Pg 64, 166,65 of Cady Saga ( my Copy ) and my photos of tombstones. Dr. Lee Cady records have it that Gilman and Sally Lincoln lost a baby the same day that Thomas Cady died, probably of the same milk fever. They moved back to Oneida Co. New York sometime after 1823 and stayed for 14 years before moving to Wisconsin to be with relatives. in 1848. HER HALF SISTER Elizabeth CADY HOLT HAD MOVED TO WISCONSIN 1N 1844. They both moved near Sally's half brother and Elizabeth's brother,Henry Cady, who was a leading citizen in Rochester, N.Y. 1860 census shows her single (58).and living with her son, Thomas (18) AND A WELSHMAN David S, Roberts, married to her daughter, Harriet C., and year old baby, Edwin C. The 1950 census shows that they also had a one year old baby, Mertia Cady, daughter of Henry Cady's first wife who died one month after Mertia was born. Mertia probably returned to the Henry family after Henry remarried. Amanda Cady remembers her at the age of about 65 as a dear old lady always wearing a black lace cap. From her obituary. After the death of her husband she lived around with her children. She died at Independence Iowa where two of her children lived but her request to be returned to Rochester, Minn. and buried next to her husband and children in the Rochester cemetery. I have visited her grave and have pictures of the stone. evisited in 2002 for third time. ---------------------------------------------------------------- From Ohio Marriages by Marjorie Smith Nov 25, 1818 Lincoln, Gilmore and Sally Cody by Michael Patton, Franklin County Ohio.
