Information in book- Born 1845 Ohio Died 1 Jan 1912, Buried Kearney Cemetery, Grave 2 Lot 1248 East Section Pvt Co C 33 rd Ia. Inf. 10 Aug 1862 to 11 April 1863. To find the lot, take the first road to the right just inside the gate and go to 12 th Ave and turn north on 12 th Ave about 80 feet. The lot is on your left in the 4 th row. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, Jan 2 ,1912- THE KEARNEY DAILY HUB- 11,45 P.M. Monday Richard A. Talbott a veteran of the Civil War died at his home in this city. No funeral arrangements have been made awaiting to hear from his children. A wife survives him here in Kearney, while he has several children living elsewhere. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1912- The KEARNEY DAILY HUBB TABBOTT FUNERAL TOMORROW At the Christian Church Thursday at 2 P.M. will be held the funeral of Richard J, Talbott who died Monday night at his home on Avenue E. Reverend E,M, Johnson will be in charrge of the service and the internment will be in the Kearney cemetery ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday Jan. 9, 1912 KEARNEY DAILY HUB Obituary-TALBOT FUNERAL HELD FROM CHRISTIAN CHURCH THURSDAY. In charge of the Veterans of War of the Rebellion. At 2 P.M. occured the funeral from the Christian Church of Richard J. Talbot. The obituary given follows: Richard J. Talbott was born in Union County, Ohio, Nov. 23 1845. He enlisted in the 33 rd Iowa Volunteers in 1862 and served in the army one year. On account of ill health he was discharged from the service. The disease contacted in the army never left him. He was married in Granville, Iowa, Feb. 19 1865 to Celia Ryan. Seven children blessed their home, three of whom proceeded the father to the other side. Those living are Mrs Ida Gustin of Axtell, Nebraska,Mrs Iota Hubbart of Bennett, Colorado, George of North Platte, Nebraska and Girard of Riverdale, Nebraska. Mr and Mrs Talbott came to Nebraska in 1889 settling in Kearney. Later they lived in North Platte for a time but since returning to Kearney have made their home here for ten years. Mr. Talbott became a Christian at Red Oak, Iowa, in 1880 and was known for his faithfulness to his profession and the Christian church of which he was a member.. He was a member of Smith Gavitt G. A. R. post at the time of his death, Jan. I 1912 The funeral was in charge of the G. A. R. comrades at the Christian service January 4 th with E. M. Johnson the pastor preaching the sermon. The remains were interred in the Kearney cemetery. Another of the defenders of our country in the time of her greatest trial has responded to the last roll call. His life of devotion to patriotism leaves the influence on all who knew him. The sympathy of his many friends and and comrades goes to his bereaved wife and children. ---------------------------------------------------------------- From Cemetery Record- Everything in this section from Cemetery records. The lot is owned by R. R. Talbott. Buried in the lot is Edwin K. Talbott( Son of Richard J Talbot ) born 12.28.1885 ( by some records) . Possibly he was born in 1880 and died in 1904 ) . He is buried in space 1. He was 23 years old The stone says that he was born 12.28.80 and died May 24, 1904. Richard J. Talbott died of heart failure Jan 1, 1912 at the age of 66 and was a Civil War veteran. He is buried in space 2. Celia A. Talbott died 10.10.1916 and was buried 10.12.1916. She was 73 years old. She is buried in space 3. She died of obstruction of the bowel. The cemetery record shows her as Susan but the stone says Celia A. Inscription on the stone is listed below.
