Graduated from Yale in April 1801 He studied law but after the death of his brother, Origen, he gave up the profession and went into the store business with is father and continued after his father retired. He was postmaster for over 20 years and sent to the legislature many times, He was Justice of Peace till disqualified by age. In 1834 he was a candidate for governor of Conn.He was one of the first to establish a factory to make thread. He was a leader in the first Congregational Church in Mansfield
