Misc. Notes
From Monongalia Co. W.V. records of the District, Superior and County Courts Vol. 1 I have two pages of court records mentioning Joseph Kelso. It seems that he owed small amounts to persons and would not pay the debts till taken to court.

From MONONGALIA CO OF WEST VIRGINIA DEED BOOK RECORDS. 1784 - 1810. Old series Vol. 1 - 4 by Richard Toothman Pg 335. Will of Joseph Kelso ( no date ) Wife Elizabeth - all property while she remains single. At her death to be divided among the children. Wife’s sons Edward and John Bennett to share equally with my own, if they stay with their mother and help raise the family till age 21 years old. William - silver knee buckles, he having been deeded a tract already. Signed - Joseph Kelso. Witness Alexander Arthur, Ann Arthur. Proved Oct 1808 Recorded OS 4:308 also in wills 1:327 -328.

In MONONGALIA CO. W.V.
There was a Joseph Kelso who was on a jury in Monongalia Co. W.V. 14 March 1796. A Joseph Kelso was sued for 336 dollars for not delivering a jackass he had been paid for. In 1797 a Joseph Kelso was sued for 500 Lbs that he owed. He had to pay 367 dollars. In 1797 he was sued and Michaed Laird gave surety.
