She was the daughter of Jonathan and Mary ( Haywood ) Fairbanks. She was an orphan, her parents brothers and sisters were killed by indians when she was 7 to 8 years old. The whole family are buried in the old Cemetery at Lancaster which had been the first corn field at Lancaster. She appears to have been the granddaughter of Jona Fairbank who was one of the victims of the Indian massacre of 10 Feb 1676.
