William Coon settled in North Berlin, N.Y. in 1780. The First Church Seventh Day Baptists was formed on North Berlin in 1780 and he was the first pastor. They are the same faith and order as the regular Baptist Church except they still hold to the Bible Sabbath. He also had a farm at Stephentown of 1775 acres. this shows on the early maps and records.The Elder Coon and his brother Hezekiah Coon from Westerly. R.I. to Stephenson and Petersburg N.Y. Hesekiah was prominent politically and his descendants reside there today.
