From THE OLDS FAMILY by Edson B. Olds he travelled to Sherborne, Co. Dorset, where got into trouble for harboring a Jesuit priest. His house appears to be ramsacked and the prieds, Father Edward, found in a large oak chest under a curtain. This William Olde was not a rich man, and considerable pressure was put upon his by the Protestant Party. In 1566, Oct 20, he was baptized in the Sherborne Church, according to the rites of the Church of England but after this date we see him paying fines for not attending the Anglican Church, and his wife was fined heavily for " continuallu and persistantly going to sleep during the learning discourses of the worthy vicar."About this time the persecution of the Roma Catholics became so strong that, whatever their private belifs, they were compelled tp outwardly conform to the forms and ceremonies of the Church of England. He died Dec. 18, 1566, before his father.
