Fron RYAN MEMORIES--- When Allgenett was 12 years old, on June 7, 1872, her mother died. This left Nettie as she was called to keep house for her father and two brothers. The father built her a stool so she could work the bread better. Keeping house in those days were the hard way. Washing on a wash board over a tub of water, firing a cook stove, carrying in and out all the water, kerosine lamps to be cleaned and filled each day, all the clothes to be sewed and using irons heated on a stove which was kept hot with cobs, coal or wood, butter to be churned, feather tick mattresses made it necessary to make the beds from the bottom up each day and many other things to do She worked hard all her life and never was idle. She had several sick spells in the last 18 months of her life and died as she went to sit down at the breakfast table. on June 4, 1952 at the age of 92.

From RYAN GENEALOGY - Allgenett was of average height witha longer face, had unusually long ear lobes but ears laying flat against her head. She was always pleasant and in a good mood.She never complained and always saw the bright side of anything.
