From The Ancestors of Edna Frances Cady by Robert Cady Gates Married Elizabeth Church in 1733 On March 11 1740 his father gave him a deed to a certain tenement of housing and lands, that is to say, ye east end of my dwelling house from top to bottom, even that my son Benjamin aforesaid lives in, with a third part of my barn, also one third part of my farm I now live on , as well as low land, mowing land, pasture land, orchard and fences, all lying and being in Killingly. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From History of Windham, Conn. Pg 3 1762 When making school districts he was in district 6. Pg 12 he protested a tax to build a church in 1770 ----------------------------------------------------------------- From HISTORY OF WINDHAM CO. Pg 569 - He was listed as a taxpayer when the town was laid out in May 1786 Pg 592 In 1769 Col Godfrey Malbone had did not want to pay taxes for the support of the town church so started the Episcopal Church and asked to be relieved of taxes for the town church. He was liberated from paying taxes on toward the town church but in 1770 a number of others including Leonard.Noah,Henry, and Benjamin Cady asked not to pay taxes on the town church as they were Episcopalians Their request was refused because of lack of sincerity. Pg. 760 Among residents in Putman in 1763 was Benjamin Cady ----------------------------------------------------------------- From sheet found in Putman It says that he was buried in the Angel Pray Cemetery but the location seems to be the same as the Aspenwall Cemetery We visited there and found his stone. The stone reads “ Revolutionary War SGT Benjamin Cady, Col. Putman Reg. Died May 31, 1788 Aged 24”.
