Ordained Jan 9 1851. He was prominent in the Mormon Church at Nephi and I have copies of church record with him as clerk, Ect. that I got at Nephi, Utah. "Treasures of Pioneer History" He was elected to Nephi City Council in 1852 He was Assessor and Collector for the year 1858. He was one of the first school teachers in the area. HISTORY OF JUAB CO BY ALICE MCCUME gives a tax evaluation and Amos Gustin had the one of the biggest estates valued at $ 544.00 When they fortified Nephi and they built the corral, he had 14 cattle Dec 7, 1851. He was county clerk at one time. He mentioned at a Church meeting that someone had stolen his beef while he had been at a dance. A.J. Foot arose and said that if they could find the robber he would like some of the meat. Film 026218 Nephi Ward " OLD " organized in 1854.He also was clerk of the Probate court. records show him County Assessor and Collector.From TREASURES OF PIONEER HISTORY On Jan 26, 1852 a meeting was held to propose building a meeting house 17,24 8 ft. high. From NEPHI RECORD BOOK A May 2, 1852-A meeting was convened at the Council House. Prayer by Mr. Gustin, the objet of the meeting was to organize a sabbath school. Among others, Amos Gustin, said that he would teach a Grammer Class.
In later years he moved to Unity Co, Utah and later to Union Co, Or.
He was a blacksmith.
