Stevens, Farmer. pf Franklin Township was born in Standing Stone, this county. Sec. 24, 1854 a son of Achatius and Sarah ( Sumner ) Stevens, the former born in Standing Stone, this county, the later in South Auborn, Susquehanna Co. Pa. Achitius. Asa S. Stevens , who is second in the family was reared and educated in Standing Stone and attended two terms at the Mansfield Normal School. On Dec. 19 , he married Miss. Ella M. daughter of Hirum and Lodoiska Vannest of Standing Stone and this marriage resulted in the birth of three daughters.. Mr. Stevens is an enterprising young farmer and his property is located on the high land north of Frankkindale; it comprises of 120 acres and is known as the Mineral Spring Farm because of a valuable mineral spring on the property which as not as yet been analyzed. Mr Stevens is a general farmer and owns a fine assortment of stock; also pays some attention to wool raising. His farm is well supplied with a living spring of soft water. He is a Democrat and has held offices of auditor and inspection of elections. he is a member of the Grange.
