His first wife died young after they had two children and then he had eight children by his second wife.He had a second wife named Hannah Pecham.She was born in Dartmouth born 28 Jan 1691 died in Dartmouth 18 May 1742. On 18 May 1742 , Hannah Delano, a widow, was made guardian of Stephen Delino, Hannah Delino and Sarah Delino 9 all under 15 children of Jabez Delano of Dartmouth. ------------------------------------------------------------- Mayflower records show that he died 23 Dec 1730 but the Mormon computer says that he died 23 Dec 1735 ----------------------------------------------------------------- He was third of ten children ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mayflower families in progress-Warren-by Wakefield says that he was a carpenter. Says that the inventory of the estate of Jabiz Delano of Dartmouth dated 14 Feb, 1734 was presented by Hannah Delino, widow and administratrix. She presented the final account 18 May, 1742. On 15 May 1742, Eunice Delano, daughter of Jabiz, over 14, chose her " brother " Abraham Sherman as guardian. On 18 May, 1742 Hannah Delano, Widow, was appointed guardian of Stephen Delano, Hannah Delano and Sarah Delano ( all under 14 ) children of Jabiz Delano of Dartmouth. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Letter from Jabez Delano to his brother in Tolland in 1727 " Loving brother: We have recd two letters lately from you, for which we thank you, wherin you haue gien an accnt of your condition, & by your letter in your famely, has caused us fear. Brother, I was moued to write to you before now, both within myself & from mother, but I put her off because of the sickness ( that was in my family of which through mercy we have had a small share to what many of our neighbours have had.) but especialy beccaus of ye dangerous condition of brother Natll lay in for some time. I being desireous that my letter might be yt messenger of joy and not sorrow to you. and now, brother, we have reed comfort from your letter, we hope these lines may be so to you and all our frinds & may find you in health and peace; and that hearts may be drawn forth to thanfulness unto God for all his mercies.
And now I shall briefly touch on what is amitted in brother Natll letter and first, of ye sickness: concerning brother Natll and his accnt in his letter. Eldes has had a long lingering ilness, but is pretty well recreuited, I am but poorly my self having bin considerably ill. this 4 weeks, which makes me write with a trembling hand, the sickness has bin very generous in " our town of which there are four grown person dead in our village but people are generaly on recovery,& it looks like a time of health.
2 nd of the season ( we have fairly good crops ) We have had a great deal of drought which lasted from English mowing till about ye middle of Sept since which we have had exteordinary growng weather, till within this 4 or 5 weeks,
3 rd Of the earthquake, which was a week yesterday, about ten at night, which shook both ye land and water, the islands , at that degree that several doors were shook of ye latch in our village & tis said that at Nantuket ye harth stones grated one against another, and, ye boat builder, ran out of his house, got into his boat for fear ye island should sink. Mother desireth me to acquant you that she greatly desires to see you, and so we do all, my love to all our friends farewell your brother.
