From Bessie Hudson Disterdick, Ben’s sister.-Ben graduated from High School in Portsmouth, Ohio with distinction on 3 June 1910. He worked in the Portsmouth Granite Brick Co. at Fire Brick, Ky. He was in a railroad accident at the plant and both his legs were cut off. This was on 11 Nov 1910. He filed for damages in 1913 and settled of $ 9667.00
He and his wife ran a resturant in Bay City, Mich. for years. A more detailed article on his life are in te family book WHO WHERE WHEN by Paul T Henderson

A copy of his obituary is in my files It was in the Bay City Times 8 of Nov, 1954“ Ben G. Hudson owner of the Rose Marie resturant, died Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital of a heart condition. He had been ill for three weeks. Born March 7, 1891 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He had resided in Bay City for 25 years”

Note written by Bess Hudson Disterdick, older sister of Bennaja Gustin Hudson, Both the Hudson and the Gustin families residen in or near the small community of Powellsville , in the Green Township, Scioto Co, Ohio.for most of the 19 th. century. Medicatl Doctor, Bennaja Gustin and his wife Ann B. (Hannah) died during 1865 leaving 8 small children. Hannah’s unmarried sister, Josaphine, came to live and care for the children. After they grew up most of the Gustin boys moved to Nebraska. The two young girls , Libby and Emma , were growing up and studied to be teachers and, after saving enough money, they too went to
Nebraska.to visit their brothers and which they liked as a teacher and a waitress and so stayed on. Back in Powellsville, Emma had a boy friend, William Henry Hudson,who followed her to Nebraska. they were married in Herman, Washington Co., Nebraska on the 18 th of Nov. 1885. They decided to homestead a quarter section of land , made improvements and stayed 5 years, after which they owned theproperty. They had 2 girls in Nebraska, Nellie, 17 Jan 1887 nd Bessie 20 May 1889. The family stayed at his faher’s farm, about one mille from PowellsvileThey had two boys there and relocated at Portsmouth where William Henry and Bennaja Gustin were born.
