The Isamingers were iron workers were among the first iron works west of the Alleghany Mountains., Phillip Isaminger who married Mary Hawk had the following children: George Washington Isaminger, Anne; Solomon:Sarah; Rebecca; Samuel; Isaac and Jose. Phillip Isaminger was one of the first to establish iron furnaces west of the Alleghenies. He established Franklin Furnace in what is called the Hanging Rock iron region in Ohio. Later he moved to Irontown, Lawrence Co, Ohi0.

Garnet Robinson Isaminger also reports the following - Per land records in Scioto Co. Courthouse, Phillip bought lower half ( 108 1/2 acres ) of French Grant lot 29 in 1838. French Grant was land given to Lafayette's French volunteers who had fought in the American Revolution. Phillip established an iron furnace on this land.
