Misc. Notes
Uncle Roy was always a hero of our family. He served in France in world war one and had a terrible ear infection and had holes in his scull behind both ears. He learned to be a pipe organ tuner and made his living for years in Denver as all the theaters had pipe organs. He Married Erna Eckhart (sp) a Catholic woman and a nurse and Uncle Roy went with her and lived in Portland, Oregon, and was isolated from the family mainly because of the Catholic connection. They did not have any children. Shirley and I and Mike, as a baby, were on our way to visit them in 1950 and arrived in time for the funeral. Bird Haugh Somerville says that he was a real handsome young man and in demand. He spent a lot of time at their place as she had two older brothers that were his pals.
