From JONES OF JONESVILLE by Vivian Lyon Moore Elkanah Jones came to Painesville and made his home with relatives there for the remained of his life. He was a great favorite with them all and a most interesting personality. His diaries kept through the Revolution and later are still in exictence and offer fascinating reading. They are too voluminous to reproduce. but we may dip into them and acquaint ourselves with his generosity, Popularity and all around likeableness. He was a cabinet maker by trade "Still the wonder grew how one small head could harbor all he knew " As a mariner, veterinary, carpenter, nurse, stone mason, tailor and store keeper. He served during the Revolution as a private in the Conneticut troops.
