Misc. Notes
From WILLARD MEMOIR live and times of Major Simon Willard He lived in Salem where for many years he was deacon of the First Church. In 1718 when the Second Church was organized he resigned his deaconship and receiving thanks for his service he transferred his relations to the new church. He was in active service as commander of a military company in an expedition against the eastern Indians in1689 and 1690. He survived his wife, Martha, and in his old age married Prisvilla Buttolph 25 July, 1722. Pricilla nust have been a thorn in his side because he drew up a paper two days before his death saying that " My wife, Prililla hath left me for a considerable time in all my sickness and illness and not attending on me as according to our bargain. I, the said Simon Willard, above said, do renounce her, the said Pricilla, from having or receiving any part of proportion of my estate, as not carring to me as my wife." This paper was recorded and he died 23 June 1731 at 81 years.
