Frm THE MAYFLOWER AND HER LOG by Azel Ames Says her name was Elen. After her husband, John Billington was hanged in 1630 she married Gregory Armstrong in 1638 ( W.T.Davis ).Her name was Ellen, Helen or Eleanor. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From SIGNERS OF THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT by Annie Arnoux Haxton Pt. 1 After her husband was executed she took up his story and furnished much uninteresting litigation to the colony. She also was called Helen or Elen and she deeded the farm, two miles north of Plymouth, to her son Francis in 1638 as he was her only living child. Later the same year she married Gregory Armstrong and it is to be hoped that she found some peace and comfort in her declining years to which she had a claim. More in the family under John, John Jr. and Francis Billington. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From THE BOWMAN FILES by Mass Soc.of Mayflower descendants Vol VIII pg 28 Mrs Ellinor Billington widow, for the natural love I bear unto Francis Billington my natural son " grants unto said F,B, all her " land" ----------------------------------------------------------------- Other source has he maiden name as Bradford, others said Newton or Longland. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Verification source of some of above materials - PLYMOTH COLONY ITS HISTORY AND PEOPLE 1620 - 1691 by Eugene Aubrey Stratton
