From loose paper found in Hillsdale Library. When he arrived in America is not known but he was first found in Windsor, Conn. in 1667. In 1694, Rovert Ould was an agent for the town at the General Court ( Legislature ) in Boston; and when the town was too poor to render its colonial taxes, by his efforts was able to get them forgiven. He was a prominent personage, apparently well-liked in Suffield where he lived out his days. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From THE OLDS FAMILY by Edson B. Olds IN 1667 he was in Windsor, Conn., apprentced to Jacob Drake. He moved to Suffield, Conn., 1673. In 1670 Dr. Robert Ould was granted 550 acres. The old cemetery adjoins the north east corner. " he was one of the firts five proprietors of Suffield, was a prominent man in the young town and first to have the title of Doctor, was agent for then town at the General Court ( Legislature ) in Boston in 1694, making two trips to Boston and receiving expenses, himself and horse, Pd 7-15-0. The services rendered was valuable, the town was pood and unable to pay the colonial taxes which amunted to the great sum of Lbs 228-4-9. By his efforts these were " rebated, remitted and forgiven " by the general Court.
