He came to Walworth in 1843 and purchased a farm in June 1843 and lived there for10 to twelve years and then moved to Douglas Corner where he managed a mercantile store as a pardner with his future father- in-law . The business called Coon and Crumb. The pardnership lasted three years and then he ran the store for several years and then came back to Walworth and purchased a farm in 1856 which is now part of Walworth. He has a great write-up in " The History of Walworth Co" Pg 1310-1312.The Coon family came from the McCoons ofAberdeen,Scotland.He married Harriet Crumb who was of English descent He had taught school some and also was very intereded in the SDB Church.
