Born 1741, July 6, Stonington, Conn. Died 25 March 1803 at Birlington, Conn. Married 4 Feb 1761 at Richmond, R.I. to Elizabeth Nichols born 17 Dec 1726 at Richmond R.I.. She was the daughter of David and Sarah Nicholls. His children were Amos 1762, Elizabeth 1764, Abrigail 1766, Sarah 1768, Martha 1770, Johnathan 1772, David 1774, Patient 1777, Elsha 1781. Amos and Elizabeth Burdick were baptized and added to Westerly Sabbanatian churh records in 1770. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Sept 4 1777 Westerly Sabbatarian Church records Quote- Brother Amos Burdick appeared at this meeting and being asked the reason why he did not walk with the Church replied that the church admits members to their communion on conviction, according to the understanding and likewise approves the taking up of arms and learning of war, which was contrary to his opinion. The church told him that he might have the liberty to act his opinion as to bearing arms, but did not think it right for him to labor and hinder others at this difficult and distressing times, asked that he might have liberty to speak and act his liberty in full in said matters, which was refused and nothing more was done respecting the matter at this meeting. About 1778 he moved to Burlington. In 1783 was ordained a deacon by his brother, Rev. John Burdick and Deacon Joseph Stillman. When the pastor died , he was called to preach in 1972 and continued to preach till he died 25 March 1803, aged 64. ( in the 1777 census he was listed as a Quaker on his conscientious objection to bearing arms.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Amos Burdick and Elizabeth Nichols had 9 children
