He was a stewart in the household of King Louis XV1 and fled from Paris at the same time the King made his unfortunate attempt to escape. Charles Homet fled from France and met, on the boat, Maria Theresa Schillinger who was maid of honor in Marie Antoinette's court and was a her relative. He married her and they lived at Asylum. Asylum was to be the asylum of French Royalty in exile. They had four children, Charles Frederick Homet, Francis Xavier Homet, Harriet Theresa Hemet and Joseph Homet. Charles F Homet married Lucy Stevens, daughter of Jonathan Stevens and Harriet Theresa Homet married Simon Stevens, son of Jonathan Stevens. In 1815 he was the next to most wealthy man in the Asylum.
