Misc. Notes
Notes from Mae Drew, his aunt. Ashford Jackson Stamper grew up with my son and was the most interesting person you could meet. He contracted polio 2 weeks after his father died , and was in an iron lung in Kansas City almost a year then at our home every summer until he started his adolescent growth, having muscle transplants, Ect. We took him on our vacation trips early in June and he spent the rest of the summers in the hospital. Jack became a CPA and was comptroller of Truman Medical Center in KC. His hobby was Indian studies. He married a Harriet who had a 4 year old daughter, Celeste. Harriet soon left him and Jack raised Celeste. Celeste was a child with exceptional I. Q. and troubled. Jack spent a mint on her treatment plus much love and care eventually raising her child Destiny who was the light of his life. At Jack's death, Celeste has made off with his resources and Destiny is being raised by Harriet. It makes an awful mess of the disposition of the family farm and I don't know how it will all turn out Certainly not what Jack would have wanted. We had Jack longer than we could have expected. His prognosis was for a life span of 40 years but we had him for 54.
