He resided in Thompson Parish, Killingly where his father gave him 50 acres of land on 1 April 1720 ----------------------------------------------------------------- From HISTORY OF WINDHAM CO. Pg 567 The part of Pomfret where he lived was seperated from the rest of the town . There were no roads in the area and it was almost impossible to get to church unless you went south to Canterbury. pg 584 There was a fight among the churches so in 1731 a new one was formed in Pomfret. The society grew in 1732 and a church was erected in 1734. On nov 21 of 1734 the church was finally organized and James Cady, It had original membership of 10 men. Pg 637 James cady was instrumental in helping start public schools in Killingly. pg 814. A second grist mill in east Putman was built by James Cady. The Cady Mills at the Four Corners and near the state line has been maintained with intervals of suspension for many years.------------------
