From the Watertown Records by the Historical Society " Nickholas Cady son of Nickhlas and Judy Cady borne the 20 of December, 1663" Note difference in dates. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From The Ancestors of Edna Frances Cady. He sold real estate in Watertown on 6 Nov 1703 and, during the following year, moved to Quinnebaug Valley ( Killingly ) Conn. in the area which is now Putman where he and members of his family were among the earliest settlers. He bought up many grants of land and sold parcels to other settlers. Prior to 1720 he moved to Preston, Conn. where he purchased a mill and conducted this business until his death. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From HISTORY OF WINDHAM CO. Pg 751 The first settlers north of the Providence Road ( at now Putman area ) were brothers, Nicholas, Daniel and Joseph Cady. Nicholas settled first north of Killingly Hill but removed to a fine farm on Whetstone Creek Pg 926 Many grants of land in northern Killingly were bought by Nicholas Cady north of Rattlesnake Hill and the sold to others. pg 926 By the payment of 40 pounds he received title to unclaimed land in Killingly. Pg 928 About 1717 Nicholas Cady went to Preston. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From DESCENDANTS OF NICHOLAS CADY - By Allen Verifies materials quoted above by Edna Francis Cady and added that her Brother-in-law, Capt. Joseph Cady gave her a deed to some undivided land in Killingly . Also the estate and will of Nicholas is listed on page 22
