He married Mary Cartey daughter of the wealthy James Cartey He owned land and had a dam and mill near where Bear Creek joins South Yadin River. Also a 630 acre tract on Hunting Creek. James Carter gave his granddaughter, jonathan's daughter, Abegale, 350 acres in Rowan Co. in 1756. The Jonathan Boone family went to Kentucky about 1779.
