He had a remarkable library. Never married. The Wilcoxson book said that he died in 1906 but the tombstone was different.He was probate judge and lawyer in Linn Co Missouri but died while he was a prosecuting attorney in the Oklahoma Territory. It is said that he accidentally found that he was blind in one eye. He did not know when it happened. When he died his sister burned all his fine clothes. It horrified relatives as some were so poor they could not buy clothes. ( by Ruth Davis)

E.W. Wilcox Judge and ex-officio Clerk. Now serving his second term as probate judge, is an attorney-at-law, having been admitted to the bar in 1884 He studied law in the office of his brother, and upon the death of the latter, who was then probate judge, was appointed to fill the vacancy . At the election following he was elected, and in 1890 was reelected to the office, Mr Wilcox was born and raised in Linn Co., and educated in the common schools here. He is a member of the K of P and a valued member of society.

Died: Judge E.W. Wilcox, former probate judge of Linn Co. appointed upon the death of his brother. J.B.Wilcox , in 1887, died in Clinton Oklahoma law office Friday, age 45 last January, native of Linneus, buried there.
